Strong week of training, total of 34 miles running. Ran intervals on Tuesday (6 X 800s, 400m rest in between intervals – average of 5:45/mile pace), tempo on Thursday (1 mile warm-up, 8 miles tempo, 1 mile cool-down, tempo average of 6:48/mile pace) and a 16 mile long run (averaged 7:13/mile pace) on Sunday. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I did a KettleWorX workout (for my core training) followed by 20 minutes of yoga. Saturday was a rest day, only did restorative and relation yoga.
Plan to do a similar week of training this week, but may increase the number of intervals on Tuesday with a shorter rest period in between. Have a 10K planned in 3 weeks, so this week will probably be the most critical as I plan to try and run the race under 40 minutes. Haven’t put too much thought into it, but need to begin putting a strategy together on how I plan to run the race – should I go out conservatively and possibly leave some time on the table or go out aggressive and see where it takes me. A lot of it may depend on the weather, so I probably won’t decide until I get closer to the event.
